Liquorice of Calabria and potato of the sila conquer the IGP
“With the liquorice of Calabria and the potato of the Sila we continue our run in direction of the support to the typical productions and of quality”. So the regional Assessor expressed himself to the Agriculture Mario Pirillo after the Ministry of the Alimentary and Forestal Agricultural Politics according to own decree has granted the national protection, to transitory headline, to the DOP “Liquorice of Calabria” and to the IGP “Potato of the Sila” (http:// www.patatadellasila.it/), obtained in accordance with the respective regulations of production that are consultabili on the site of the Mipaaf www.politicheagricole.gov.it. The transitory, exact protection the measure of the Ministry, it will stop to pass the date in which a community decision will be adopted and will decay if, within six months, the plan of the controls will not be approved.
The regulations of production of the denomination Liquorice of Calabria and of the indication Potato of the Sila had been read on June 8 of last year close to the Chamber of Commerce of Cosenza, during meeting of public verification, and they were doing retinue to the investigation and in the favourable opinion declared by the regional Assessorship to the Agriculture. They had the reason of letting to the Ministry, which is the subject responsible for the declaration, verify the correspondence of the discipline proposed to the loyal and constant uses foreseen by the rule of the European Union in a market more and more mondializzato and with a more and more pitiless competition. “We can improve and increase our shares only through the excellence – a satisfied Pirillo has added – that fortunately it does not neglect the products of our land”.
