The innovation of the products and of the services, of the productive processes and organizational structures, represents today the most important challenge from which the productive and institutional systems cannot be taken away any more.
In the first part of the book the European strategy is described for the growth and the creation of greater and better occupation. A strategy what received in the national programs of reform, founds his roots in the ability of the European economy of increasing the innovatività degree to compete in a more and more competitive global scenery.
There are described the guide lines of the Picture of national support 2007-2013 and the Regional Operative Programs (PUT) of the Calabria for the programming perido 2007-2013.
In the second part there is analysed the situation of the region Calabria that, to look of the author, hardly will manage to reach the objectives fixed by the strategy of Lisbon and to go out, within 2013, of the Objective Convergence.
The innovation, as empiricamente demonstrated, it represents the principal factor to favour a stable and sustainable growth. In Calabria there exist, nevertheless, structural and cultural problems that they prevent from innovating more and better. In the last part the limits and the potentialities are analysed to transform the regional economy into a modern economy based on the knowledge and on the innovation, essential condition for the improvement of the economic and social conditions of the Calabrian citizens.
