The Program Eurostars for the best European small and medium-sized enterprises
The program Eurostars has been instituted by the intergovernmental net Eureka al purpose of stimulating the European entrepreneurship. Eurostars aims in the specific thing at the market of niche of research and innovation useful to the small and medium-sized enterprises, and it will support their attempt to assume a list of point in the international joined efforts of research and development (R&S).
I square the Seventh program (7°PQ) of the European Union for the research it will contribute to the project with 100 My EUR, while the net EUREKA, composed by 22 Member states of the UE and five associate countries, supplies on the whole other 300 My EUR. Besides, the private sector should supplement such sums with further 400 My EUR.
Within the bounds of Eurostars, the announced countries will reunite their programs and research financing, for a better and more efficient use resources destined to support the small and medium-sized enterprises, with the reason of using the results of their researches.
The objective is to realise during six years 560 projects, each one of which (between which a consortium of a maximum of three partners) should receive on average 1,5 My EUR as well as to benefit by simplified procedures, has explained Luuk Borg of the secretariat of EUREKA.

The European Parliament should approve the program Eurostars in first voting with the codecision procedure. The first projects to receive financing by way of the new program might begin in June of 2008.
